Ecumenical Legislative Briefing Day

The 2012 Ecumenical Legislative Briefing Day was held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Christ United Methodist Church, Lincoln.

Workshop topics included:

1) Advocacy 101 - How can we be better faith-based advocates? What tools and resources are available?

2) Domestic Violence - What legislative/policy work is focused on domestic violence and sexual assault?

3) Health Care Reform - Sorting out the current health care reforms, how do they impact each one of us?

4) Aging Population - What issues are facing our aging population and how are we addressing them?

5) Rural Issues - What legislation is addressing rural concerns?

6) Suicide Prevention -Updates on current suicide prevention activities and ways legislative action could support prevention efforts.

7) Bullying - Bullying continues to impact people of all ages. What legislation is in place and how can we address this issue?

8) Immigration - Immigration issues are still part of the legislative agenda. What is happening during the 2012 session?

9) Environment - How can the faith community become more involved in issues impacting our environment?

10) Young Adults as Advocates - How are young adults speaking out? What issues are they interested in? What can we learn from them and how can we work together?
